The world Is doomed by western insouciance – don’t expect to live much longer

The reason that Washington demonizes a leader and a country is to permit the creation of circumstances that Washington can use to act with force against a leader and a country.

Paul Craig Roberts for Global News Centre

(WASHINGTON DC)  European governments and the Western media have put the world at risk by enabling Washington’s propaganda and aggression against Russia.

Washington has succeeded in using transparent lies to demonize Russia as a dangerous aggressive country led by a new Hitler or a new Stalin, just as Washington succeeded in demonizing Saddam Hussein in Iraq, the Taliban in Afghanistan, Qaddafi in Libya, Assad in Syria, Chavez in Venezuela, and, of course, Iran.

The Hiroshima Myth and the Glorification of American Militarism

The historically-illiterate Americans are prevented, again and again, from learning “unpatriotic” historical truths that might shake our confidence in the ruling elite, the Pentagon and the conscienceless multinational corporations that control our politicians and the stock market.

Gary G. Kohls, MD  Global News Centre Guest Columnist

(WASHINGTON DC) This coming Wednesday, August 6, 2014, is the 69th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, the whole truth of which has been heavily censored and mythologized ever since war-weary Americans celebrated V-J Day on August 15.

Prostitutes take over Congress

A classic example of the ineffectiveness of Congress is now ongoing and can be seen in the Gaza situation.

Joe Clifford Global News Centre

It is little wonder the US public has little or no respect for the US Congress. Recent polls indicate Congress has a 10-11% approval rating which obviously means almost 90% of the American people hold Congress in contempt. One major reason for this is because Americans know full well Congress only responds to money and campaign contributions, and their need for money and votes far outweighs the interest of most Americans. Another recent study indicated that special interest groups, big donors, and large corporations are well represented, but the average citizen is totally unrepresented.

The Export-Impact Bank: a textbook case of crony capitalism at work

“Democrats have formed a united front in support of the bank, seizing on an opening to appeal to the hearts and wallets of the business community ahead of the November elections.”Politico’s MJ Lee

(WASHINGTON DC)  The Export-Import Bank is seeking a five-year reauthorization and an extra $20 billion in permitted lending this year.  Republicans and Democrats joined together in 2012 to win bipartisan support for the bank’s last reauthorization which also raised the bank’s lending cap to $140 billion.

Israel “Defends” Itself By “Mowing the Grass”

The picture above is from the U.S. home page of UNWRA. It was taken by Letteris Pitarakis, for the Associated Press.

Years from now, Israeli veterans of this and other wars, will be asked, “what did you do in your war, Daddy”? The answer Daddy gives about “mowing the grass” will tell us what sort of nation Israel has built for the future.

Dr. James Wall Global News Centre

(CHICAGO)  Once every two years or so, depending on the U.S. and Israeli strategic and political calendars, Israel, the fourth largest military power in the world, descends on Gaza to “mow the grass”.

And sick and tired, I understand, of banging his head against the conservative, anti-tree-hugging  establishment.
