Bringing harmony and balance for a brighter future. An amazing institution!

I have attached two videos that were created by my young warrior friend, Jamal. I have watched him grow in the Boston Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy and I want to be among the first to say that he is growing up to be a fine young man. He has told me on many occasions how good it feels to be a part of such an amazing institution. The other day I asked Jamal to send me a photo of himself for this promo publication and he said,  “no, Tim, this one is for the academy and it’s affiliates. ” I think that says it all as to what they are producing there.

I would like to thank Professors Roberto Mia and Jimmy DelOrfano for their dedication and for giving the young an opportunity to work together for a healthier and more responsible future.

Contaminated flower may be getting patients and employees sick

Anne Hassel had high hopes for a new career when she applied for a job serving medical marijuana patients at New England Treatment Access (NETA), a registered medical dispensary (RMD) in Massachusetts. A licensed physical therapist, she believes in the efficacy of cannabis and says that she appreciated how NETA was presented “as having a new business paradigm, one of worker input and responsive management.”

That was then. Now, nearly a year after she quit working at NETA and filed a complaint with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) claiming she was regularly exposed to mold via cannabis flower, Hassel mockingly says NETA stands for “Never Ethically Treating Anybody.”

“Mold was an issue at both [NETA’s] Franklin cultivation center and the Northampton dispensary,” Hassel wrote in her complaint to OSHA. The former budtender reported that she “observed powered mildew flower” while trimming cannabis in 2016 in Franklin but was instructed by a supervisor to “cut around it.” She also says that management dunked “marijuana flower into a hydrogen peroxide solution to treat the mold.”

The Nubiamancy Productions Campaign

Since April 2013, an online social media platform called Nubiamancy has been sharing content that features black/African people in science-fictional, fantasy, and horror settings; on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and as of recently, YouTube. This was started by myself, Asante Massawa, in order to a) help normalize seeing people of African descent in entertainment genres that underrepresent us, b) promote fantasy art/comics/films/animation/novels/photography that features people of African descent, and c) inspire creators to create more content in those veins.

After four years of posting over 10,000 images and videos, and after receiving thousands of comments and messages clamouring to see those works in live-action films, Nubiamancy is now embarking on a mission to turn the social media platform into a film studio, but we need your help. :)

The goal is to become a film studio that creates short films based on some of the content displayed on the pages. We will be contacting many artists, writers, and photographers in our back catalogue of shared works in order to bring many of the great pieces of art alive in high quality, but cost efficient, short films. The long term goal is eventually to transition into full-length feature films, but starting small is the way to go for now.

In 2009, Matthew Cohen launched an unusual CSA out of Mendocino County, California. In addition to the local heirloom tomatoes and organic butter lettuce, Cohen tucked a little something extra into his weekly shipments: a fat bag of medicinal marijuana, also local, also touted as organic. Within a few months, Cohen realized that nobody cared about the vegetables; they just wanted the weed. So he pivoted his business, Northstone Organics, and began delivering high-quality cannabis directly to customers’ doorsteps. By 2011, he was selling weed to 1,700 patients in the Bay Area and Los Angeles County. That’s when the feds showed up.

(SAN FRANCISCO)  On May 1st, 18 Republican members of Congress sent a letter  to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, nominating Trump to receive the award for his work to “end the Korean War, denuclearize the Korean peninsula, and bring peace to the region.” No this isn’t a joke or a piece from The Onion.

Origins of the Kush: The disputed region known as the Hindu Kush shares its boundaries with Pakistan and Afghanistan just north of Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir. The area has long been known for its ongoing conflicts as well as its history of cannabis and hashish production. Part of the legendary Himalayas mountain range, the fertile valleys and hillsides of the Hindu Kush have, for centuries, produced the world’s finest hash. Years of natural and human selection for the most resinous, indica-dominant plants have resulted in short, stocky bushes covered with huge, shiny trichomes.

ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

Global News Centre

Submitted by Ace Knight

In 1915, leaders of the Turkish government set in motion a plan to expel and massacre Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire. Though reports vary, most sources agree that there were about 2 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire at the time of the massacre. By the early 1920s, when the massacres and deportations finally ended, some 1.5 million of Turkey’s Armenians were dead, with many more forcibly removed from the country. Today, most historians call this event a genocide–a premeditated and systematic campaign to exterminate an entire people. However, the Turkish government does not acknowledge the enormity or scope of these events. Despite pressure from Armenians and social justice advocates throughout the world, it is still illegal in Turkey to talk about what happened to Armenians during this era.
